About Us

Shri Dussehra Committee Trust, Patna is a non-profit cultural and religious organization that has been upholding the glorious tradition of Ramlila and Ravana Dahan at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan since 1955. What began as an initiative of the Punjabi and Sindhi community after partition has now grown into one of Bihar’s largest cultural festivals, drawing lakhs of people every year on Vijayadashami. Formally registered in 2008, the Trust continues to preserve and promote Indian culture through grand celebrations like Dussehra, Ramlila, and Shri Krishna Mahotsav, while also contributing to social service, unity, and heritage preservation.

I was so excited when I heard about the Shri Krishna Mahotsav. I attended the event at Miller High School Ground, and it was a new and beautiful tradition. But when it was held at Gandhi Maidan in 2024, it became a massive success. The Dahi Handi competition was the best part—it was so much fun and brought people together in a way I hadn't seen before for this festival. It shows that the Shri Dussehra Committee Trust is not only preserving old traditions but also starting new ones that connect with the youth.

What truly impresses me about the Shri Dussehra Committee Trust is not just their big events but their service to society. I remember the devastating floods in Patna in 1975 when they cancelled the celebrations and diverted the money to help the victims. Even during the Corona pandemic, they were out there distributing food and helping people in need. It's a testament to their mission of 'Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya.' This committee embodies the true spirit of religion and humanity.
